Dear Shilo,
I've been delayed in getting the new issue out because until recently my computer has been broken. But it's fixed now and it won't be long.
I also regret to say that this will be the last issue for a variety of reasons, but it will be a big issue, packed with many marvellous stories and poems. I know these rays of light will be of geat assistance in the dark days ahead without my compendium.
Yours with Warmth and Sincerity,
Viola

Viola,

I'm a contributor from the States, and I was just wondering when we might expect the new issue.

Cheers,

Ah! To be mentioned FIRST in such illustrious company as is soon to grace the pages of Compendium Three. Whether it will add to your sales is a moot point.

Like many busy writers who write for money the time and energy to do my own thing is often lacking. And when a writer wants to frivol where does s/he go?

Why, s/he submits the results of such frivolling to you for inclusion among other Seriously Silly contributions. I say to anyone who hasn't joined in, please send something for Compendium Four so we can all turn round and wave our glasses and say, "Welcome to the club!"

I think we should all be worried about the prospect of violence in our fair land. Violence, even when coupled with the best of intentions, is never acceptable and is often symptomatic of a society in decline.

So it is with concern that I note that while the Romans had their gladiators and the Third Reich their Waffen-SS we have our own exceptionally violent group, those men and occasionally women, whose regular activities sees them perpetrating acts of violence that, if carried out on a public street, would constitute grounds for a charge of assault.

The result of their activities can be found on the Accident Compensation web-page. Rugby has most injury claims of any sporting code and I feel it is quite fitting that the exploits of those who play this game at the highest level should be celebrated by the black flags that adorn so many vehicles on our streets.

How true Viola, how true! But aren't you thrilled that we'll soon be treated to David Beckham (and how far behind him can his lovely wife be?) visiting our fair land? I can barely contain myself!

Whenever I thought of becoming famous I realised that the only chances I had were if I won Lotto or murdered someone. Being not lucky nor homicidal I never worried too much about these things though I did check Google Earth once or twice to see if I’d been snapped doing something unfortunate. It is comforting to know then that I am already in the sights of some secret service organisation.

But even if I was the only person on the planet whose life was so boring that it was ignored by these agencies I am certain that our civilization will get to the post-human stage and run many ancestor-simulations, equally certain that I am living in one and therefore have the solace of knowing that I am an object of intense interest by the social and marketing research team in the level above.
